Patricia Raney holds a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Colorado, and a doctorate of medicine from UMass. Her training in art came mostly from her mother, who is both a painter and an art historian. She has been a student of local artist Ellen Sidor and studied design at the Boston Museum School for one year with Maggie Fitzpatrick. She is inspired by the work of Jose de Creeft, Elie Nadelman, the early Romans* around the time of Christ, and by the photographic portraits of Steve McCurry.
*Rome was over 500 years into its 900-year lifespan at the time of Christ.
